February was a full and fun month for Irma Penn School of Jewish Learning. On Wednesday February 5, a Jewish National Fund representative came to work with Irma Penn School’s Wednesday program.
Our school made beautiful tree art to be displayed for Temple Shalom’s Tu Bishvat seder. They were also on full display Sunday, February 9th when Irma Penn School held a delicious Tu’Bishvat seder in which our learners were able to sample fruits and nuts grown in Israel and participate in awesome crafts.
The children and youth involved in Irma Penn School have continued in our partnership with Beth Jacob Talmud Torah in Regina. We have exchanged Rosh Hashana cards with one another and will try to coordinate another teleconference in March.
Irma Penn School of Jewish Learning is very thankful to the Jewish Foundation of Winnipeg and the Lazareck Foundation in particular for funding the wages of our newest Education Assistant, Kendal. Kendal is a specialist EA in helping to make our program more accessible and inviting to young people with specialities – such as but not limited to Autism Spectrum Disorder. This work improves our program this year and for many years to come.
